7-year-old Deniz, who lost his mother during the political incursion of 1980, takes a journey to his grandfather’s farm in an Aegean town to meet him for the fist time. Deniz has been withheld from his grandparents because of a past dispute between his father Sadik and his grandfather Hüseyin Efendi. Hüseyin Efendi has disowned Sadik years ago when he left home for college and got involved in political demonstrations. Sadik knows that he will have to leave Deniz soon and he must find his only son a new home before he leaves. So, Deniz finds himself with a sweet, but strange Aegean family in an old farm house. He is amazed by the eternally upset aunt, the multi-talented grandmother, the overly dressed aunt-in-law, and naïve uncle, who all like to talk loudly at once. While Sadik faces the Turkey he fought for, his first love and himself in this little Aegean town, Deniz will gradually ease the pain between his father and grandfather.

When a Man Grows Up, Do His Dreams Also Grow?

"After gluing everyone to the TV screen with Asmalikonak (The Ivy Mansion) and making the probably misunderstood personal film, Mustafa Hakkinda Hersey (All About Mustafa), Çagan Irmak returns to filmmaking by bringing together 3 men from 3 generations.... At first look, I decided to base my criticism on the title 'Our Cinema under the Influence of TV Series'... What I saw in these scenes was a recent element that a number of movies submitted themselves to: the TV series atmosphere. Thus, comical scenes could easily follow dramatic ones (in a manner our Yesilçam tradition would allow), the direction of the actors would also be the TV style, and the director seemed like he could not make a decision on what the subject matter of the film would be. All these thoughts changed towards the end of the film. Çagan Irmak pulled everything together and started to present to us unforgettable scenes back to back. These scenes were done with the cinematic technique best suitable to the emotional load they carry, and even a single such scene would be sufficient to make a film immortal. It will not be easy for me to forget the last quarter of this film."
