Dream in New York, an hour-long comedy about life in the city as told
from various foreigners points of view, is a commentary on encountering
real American culture and the mythic American dream. Expectations
versus reality are presented in a thought-provoking satire. The play,
which is inspired by Christopher Durang s Laughing Wild, was mainly conceived
and written at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, a prestigious developmental
off-Broadway theater. An excerpt of Dream'in New York was performed as
a part of a showcase with the cast of the Ensemble Studio Theatre intern
company this past January.

This excerpt from distinguished Turkish playwright Murathan Mungan s
play Mahmud and Yezida explores intolerance between peoples from different
religious and cultural groups. Mahmud and Yezida is a love story between
a young Muslim man and a Kurdish Yezidi girl who live in Southeastern
Turkey. When their families oppose their relationship, their love becomes
the emblem of a struggle against narrow-minded traditions, and the couple
martyrs for tolerance.
